In desperation the wounded Dela, limping Eona and injured Ryko try to escape but Ido orders his men to find them. Dela insists that she at least attempt to heal Ryko, so she does. Unlike in Eon , where she was a lowly contestant and had to fight to survive, now that she’s out as the Dragoneye, people are constantly saying things like this to her:
Good luck sorting out your entire fucking empire because everything was a lie and now everyone is dead. Goodman has set Eona up with two potential interests, one who represents humility and another who asks her to embrace all of the power available to her. There’s a really disgusting love triangle that involves a guy who tried to rape her in the first book; which is incredibly ill-conceived. I enjoyed this much more than the first one, many of the things that stressed me out in Eon were already t If you, like me, loved Eon: Here, it appears as though the protagonist has failed and her master’s wealth is all lost; however, as the remaining candidates proceed to the arena to bow to the Emperor, the Mirror Dragon, which has been lost for five hundred years, returns.
I’ve wrestled with my sister for a prized possession before. I am being a bit too harsh aren’t I? This book is an exception!
Eona included, I mean and I am still pretty frustrated that at the end their relationship isn’t made crystal clear: This is not necessarily an indictment of the book; Goodman is able to rely on the sympathy established for her characters in Eon: Times are too unstable and life too unpredictable to keep up the pretense.
While Kygo is a pompous, childish, spoilt kid – true, he IS the Emperor but does he have to act all the time like everything is due to him? I have to wonder how much my strong dislike of the narrator ended up ruining this book for me. Eon has been revealed as Eona, the first female Dragoneye in hundreds of years.

And the emperor couldn’t even be with her by law, cause he’ll need to have royal wives, and a mountain of royal concubines! Much of the book is about concealment. First of all, the consistent amount of information about the world-building that I had to take in for this story, had already been digested: I felt the mystery involving Kinra was well done, though so, so very dragged out. I wouldn’t tell the chick anything!!!
Fantastic worldbuilding Sick of books th Before you can decide whether this book is your cup of tea, the first thing you need to ask yourself is what you look for in a book, what makes something a good read for you. Views Read Edit View history. Is she always just going to be a mistress to him? The storytelling is superb, the plot is intricate with twists and turns that will keep you glued to the pages, the pace is breathless and the battles epic.
It was like the author threw all the questionable morals surrounding his character out the window for an easier ending. But the best part of the book for me was the fact that when I started it, I was sure it would simply be about saving the Empire of Celestial Dragons from Sethon, but it turned out to be much more than that, sort of like in Shadowfever Note: Instead, it is a quest-type adventure in which Eona attempts to save her home country and in the process learn to control her newly acquired immense power.
Michael will always be thankful to his 6th grade teacher who suggested he read The Hobbit.

Additionally, the relationship developed a bit too fast. But I can hope hhe the best. In this book, she has to learn how to navigate all kinds of new lsst dynamics. The ending left me shocked and breathless, sad but with a smile on my face. Facing the ultimate battle for control of the land she calls home, Eona finds herself waging an internal battle every bit as devastating as the war threatening to break out across the kingdom.
After so many reviews signing its praise, my expectations had soared high and I feel let down now. An apparent time-bomb is established at the beginning Kygo has seven days to reclaim the throne lazt Sethon becomes the legitimate ruler but never followed through. It is one of those cases where you just know it’ll end badly, and it made me think even less of the heroine.
In the first book, the story is set up and played out well, but here in Eona, this is where the true heart of the story really takes place. Eona, with its pulse-pounding drama and romance, its unforgettable fight scenes, and its surprises, is the conclusion to an epic only Alison Goodman could create.

Eona is everything I expected to be and more. I straddled his legs. I didn’t love Eona’s character in this book – but the people who were supposedly her friends were jerks. They then realize it is the prince in a mad-crazed state of mind from the news of his families deaths.

Plot-wise, the intrigue was exposed in the previous book, dragonete explained, all figures set in motion, the main lines drawn and the finishing line beckoned on the clouded horizon. Eona is different, yet inherently the same, as its predecessor. And so much more! Dagoneye was so hopeful and the beginning was such a tease. Rise of the Dragoneye is a fantasy novel by Alison Goodman.
One thing that disappointed me about the first book was not resolved in the second either.
